Gong Xi!

This year is especially special for me, my sister decided to take a year holiday here in Jakarta, Indonesia. So, this year after about 18 years, I celebrated Chinese New Year with her again.

Leia, Kirana and Jeda were in Chinese Traditional Dress, celebrating the year of Dragon. Gong xi! Gong Xi!

Jeda and Rambutan

Today, my mom introduced rambutan to Jeda. No, not for eating, but more for her sensory activity. So, I watched Jeda, as my mom gave a rambutan to her. She touched the outer side of it, and pulled her palm right away. Then, she tried again, this time, she made funny face as if she was telling me , "I do not like the feeling of it!" or "It's really tickle me, and I do not quite like it!" Then, she tried again to touch the outer side of rambutan, but again, she pulled her palm and fingers right away. Then, she touched the branch, and played with it for a while.
I for many years, believe in the sensory activities. I think, feeling a different surface or texture have many impact on her brain and nerves on the finger tips.
During this simple exercise, which inspired by my mother, Jeda is able express likes or dislikes. I just quite surprise that she expresses herself in an early age.

My Princess Leia

Leia is six years old now. She is in primary 1 and a proud big sister. Leia is so helpful on many things that I could possibly thank for. She is great with her new baby sister, and loves her cousin Kirana. Even though, she was having a hard time adjusting to her new situation; a baby and Kirana, I thought she coped pretty well. She had good grades, making new friends at school and doing many activities after school. She is still a little princess that I knew before, that I wish in every bit of my heart, that she would never ever change.

Back to Nature

I should post this story three years ago. I am so behind on everything lately, sometime, better late than never than.
It started when Leia's teacher asked me of the possibility using my dad's resort as a farewell party for Leia and friends. After they went to the preschool together, now, they went to a different kindergarten. So, I created a short version of Nature walk. So, here it was...
It was in June, 2009, when they arrived in GG House, desa cibogo, Bogor www.gghouse.com. They were so excited, they of course came with their parents, and helpers. The teachers were also ready. I invited one of my teacher from UK, Jade.  They all were equip to go to the rice field. Everybody wore this special hat called "Caping".
We were looking through the rice field, observing the rice planters and the newly padi.

Leia was enjoying the walk with her friend Ravey.
The children were observing the leaves, that went by from the little river on the side of the road.

Walking by the side of the rice field.
We stopped by the ceramic shop from the local residence, we could make our own design of ceramic.

Then this is a big oven to put the ceramic. The ceramic will be ready in about 2 hours.

Leia was making her own creation.
Leia was with her creation.

A Beautiful Butterfly
Then, we went back to GG house, and straight to lunch. For the children, we prepared fried chicken, fried noodle and vegetable soup. For the adult, we prepared friend chicken, Sayur Asam, Lalapan, Sambal dan Kerupuk

Eating with friends were so much nicer!

After lunch, we decorated our pots, and later before we went home, we planted "Singkong" in it.

From the back of the GG house, there is a bridge to go to the other side of the river.

The river from the bridge

Through the rice field once again

Jade was taking a pose. Looking so posh there Jade!

Then, off we went into the rice field, to plant the rice.

First we had to do the rice dance.

Then, we planted the rice into the ground

I even managed to pose while getting dirty on the mud!

At the end, the children were just having lots of fun in the swimming pool. And as a remembrance of this day, each child brought home a pot of Cassava/Singkong plant.

Here is all of us that came to the Back to nature day!

Jeda! Jeda!

My baby was born in the fourth of July, two thousand eleven. She was 3.1kg and 51 cm. She is an amazing baby, not because she is my baby, but because she latches really good!! She sleeps well during the night, and eats quite well too. I really should post this blog about 7 months ago, but I guess, I did not have quite a time to do it. She is almost 7 months at this time, she can creep, rolling back and forth, and throws all her toys away from her crib, just because she wants to know what will happen when she dropped it. Of course, Leia will pick it up and give it back to her, and she will once again drop it. She has a beautiful smile, nice round eyes, small pink lips and cute little nose. However, she has a big and pointy ears, which make her look even cuter. We named her: Jeda Cathryn Pratomoadji.
